Big blow to Punjab Govt: HC quashes notice issued to Mohali Mayor Kulwant Singh
In a major move, High Court quashes show cause notice issued by Local bodies department to Mohali Mayor Kulwant Singh. Justice Mrs Daya Chaudhary, pronounced the order and allowed the petition of Kulwant Singh, Mayor, Mohali. The court also quashed the show cause notice issued by respondent the state of Punjab. On February 1, after hearing the arguments, the High Court had reserved the judgment. The Punjab Government had issued a show-cause notice to Kulwant Singh for taking away his councillorship for alleged misuse of power in the purchase of a tree-pruning machine and causing loss to state exchequer. -PTC News
