High Alert! Agencies fear aerial vehicle attack Aug 15 The drone threat has been a serious cause of concern for the security agencies and the Indian Air Force has been tasked with the responsibility of tracking and neutralizing any attacks outside the 30 km no-fly zone. According to reports, top officials from the Indian Air Force, Defence Ministry, Intelligence Bureau, National Security Guard, Delhi Police and Special Protection Group were present at the meeting that took place today in North Block regarding the aerial threat on Independence Day. The responsibility of the tackling drone attacks inside the zone is with the Delhi Police. Security agencies are also planning to deploy radars, sniper teams and other defensive measures to thwart such attack. An air defence mechanism will also be in place to thwart any such threat. 6,000 security personnel and sharpshooters from NSG will be deployed on the iconic Red Fort. Apart from that, around 5,000 personnel from Delhi Police, special cell, and security wing have also been deployed. The police and security agencies are keeping a close watch on crowded places likes markets, railway stations, inter-state bus terminals and key strategic places. Recently, an explosive drone went off in Caracas when President Nicolas Maduro was addressing a live televised speech. Maduro was unharmed, but seven soldiers sustained injuries in the incident. -PTC News
