After Ludhiana Central Jail firing incident, Ministry of Home Affairs has issued a letter regarding the deployment of CRPF in High-Security jails in Punjab, here on Friday. As per the letter, the matter has been considered in the Home Ministry. It has been decided 03 Coys of CRPF i.e. One CRPF coy each will be deployed in Amritsar, Bathinda, and Ludhiana.
Also, it is, for the time being, this will be fresh deployment and over the time as when CISF takes over the VIP protection duties, the CRPF coys will be freed upon VIP protection duties and revert to CRPF.
The decision came after the incident of firing in Ludhiana Central jail where the prisoners attacked the police officials, in which one prisoner dead and over four police officials were heavily injured. The incident of Ludhiana Central Jail lasted for hours and then the situations were brought under control.
