Kyle Jamieson wrecks India's first innings, 2nd Test

IND vs NZ 2nd Test Day 1: Kyle Jamieson was rolling out as India was bowled out for 242 runs in the first innings of the second Test in Christchurch on Saturday. Just like Wellington, New Zealand won the toss and elected to bowl first. India performed far better than the Wellington, where it had scored just 165 runs in the first innings. While chasing 242, New Zealand scored 63 for no loss.

India's comeback

India has surely changed its concept of batting and likewise, the scorecard says it all. Prithvi Shaw who failed in Wellington scored 54 runs off 64 deliveries including 8 boundaries and 1 six. Meanwhile, Cheteshwar Pujara and Hanuma Vihari who failed too in Wellington scored 54 and 55 runs, respectively.

Failure of the Indian skipper, yet again

Indian skipper Virat Kohli who is said to be the most dangerous batsman across all formats has failed to keep his momentum in Test cricket. In Wellington, he managed to score a total of 21 runs. Well, his bat surely didn't click the ball in Christchurch as well, as he was trapped in the leg before wicket (lbw) by Tim Southee. Also Read | IND vs NZ 2nd Test: Can India stage a comeback?

Kyle Jamieson — The rising star

Jamieson who has been enjoying ever since he played his first Test during Wellington. Likewise, he dismissed Prithvi Shaw, Cheteshwar Pujara, Rishabh Pant, Ravindra Jadeja and Umesh Yadav. Meanwhile, Trent Boult and Tim Southee bagged two wickets each.

Toms' dominate India

For New Zealand, Tom Blundell (29) and Tom Latham (27) seemed confident as the Indian bowlers were not able to claim any wicket till the end of the day. Also, it is the longest India had been wicketless with the first new ball since the Sydney Test in January 2019. Currently,  New Zealand is trailing by 179 runs. -PTC News
