Kartarpur Corridor: India to lay foundation stone for Sikh pilgrimage route today
The Vice-President, M Venkaiah Naidu, will lay the foundation stone for the construction of the Dera Baba Nanak-Karatarpur Sahib road corridor today (November 26). The Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Food Processing, Harsimrat Kaur Badal, and Punjab Chief Minister, Captain Amarinder Singh, will be accompanying him. The ceremony will be performed in Mann village of Gurdaspur district in Punjab. The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) also announced that its leader, Sukhbir Singh Badal, and its workers will also be present at the groundbreaking ceremony of the proposed corridor to Shri Kartarpur Sahib.
On November 22, India’s Union Cabinet took the decision to build the corridor from Dera Baba Nanak to the International Border. On the very same day, Pakistan’s Foreign Minister, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, also announced that Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan, would also lay the foundation of Kartarpur corridor on November 28. -PTC NEWS
