India logs 2,828 new Covid-19 cases, 14 deaths in 24 hours
New Delhi, May 29: India reported 2,828 fresh Covid-19 cases, taking the total infection tally to 4,31,53,043, said the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Sunday. With this, the country's active caseload stands at 17,087, accounting for 0.04 percent of the total positive cases. The Covid-19 death count reached 5,24,586 with 14 new fatalities in the last 24 hours. Meanwhile, a total of 2,035 patients recovered in the last 24 hours, taking the total recoveries to 4,26,11,370 across the country. The national Covid-19 recovery rate has been recorded at 98.74 percent, the daily positivity rate was at 0.60 percent and the weekly positivity rate stood at 0.56 percent. A total of 4,74,309 tests have been conducted in the last 24 hours; a total of 84.97 crores of Covid-19 tests have been conducted so far. Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya announced on Saturday that more than 88% of the adult population in the country has been fully vaccinated against Covid-19. The Central Government launched a nationwide Covid-19 vaccination programme on January 16, 2021, and the new phase of vaccination began on June 21, 2021. As part of the nationwide vaccination campaign, the Government of India has provided free Covid vaccines to states and union territories.
