India teams in final: Youth Olympic Games Hockey Qualifying Tournament

True to expectations, Indian teams, both men and women, made it to the gold medal round in the Youth Olympic Games Hockey Qualifying Tournament in Bangkok on Saturday.

While India men (under-18) team defeated Bangladesh 9-2 in the first semi-final, Indian women team defeated Malaysia 4-2 in a well contested final.
Indian women team will now face China in the title clash. Earlier, China defeated korea 6-0 in the first semi-final of the women's section.
Chetna, Ishita Chaudhary, skipper Salima Tete and Sangita Kumari were the scorers for Indian women's hockey team while Isahhudun Nor and Siti Hussain were the scorers for Malaysia.
In the men's section, Bangladesh put up a splendid fight against pre-tournament favourites India and restricted them to 2-0 in the first segment. India could add only one more goal in the second segment while in the last and third segment, India added six while allowing Bangladesh to score two.
Shivam Anand was the hero of Indian men's team triumph scoring four of the nine goals while skipper Vivek Parsad, Mohammad Alishan and Maninder Singh scored one goal each. The remaining two goals were scored by Rahul Kumar Rajbhar.
For Bangladesh skipper Sobuj Shahnur scored both the goals.
India now awaits the winner of Malaysia and Korea for the title clash in the men's section.
This is the first official FIH tournament for both India men and women teams in  Hockey 5s, the shorter version of the game.
