Indian opener Rohit Sharma smashed a ton against Proteas on Day 1 of the Ranchi Test on Saturday. He became the second Indian opener after Sunil Gavaskar to hammer three hundred in a Test series. The 32-year-old scored 176 and 127 in the first Test, while he reached his ton off 130 deliveries. Also, he set the world record for most sixes in a Test series (17*).
India won the toss and elected to bat first. While batting, India lost early wickets in the form of Mayank Agarwal (10), Cheteshwar Pujara (0) and skipper Virat Kohli (12). Meanwhile, Ajinkya Rahane came in as a support to Hitman and in fact, the vice-captain has also completed a half-century.
For South Africa, Anrich Nortje and Kagiso Rabada took early wickets. Nortje trapped the big fish Virat Kohli leg before wicket. While Rabada dismissed Mayank and Pujara. Now, India is back on a track, as it has not lost any further wicket after these. Both Rohit and Rahane are standing on the crease.
The duo have led the team to reach the 200-mark after the loss of 3 wickets. South Africa needs to restrict the dominating Team India, otherwise, it is going to put a massive total on the scoreboard.
