IPL 2021 Player Auction: Chris Morris, Glenn Maxwell, Jhye Richardson among big bidding wars

IPL 2021 Player Auction: A total of 292 players including 164 Indians and 125 overseas, went under the hammer on Thursday in Chennai. Chris Morris, Glenn Maxwell, and Jhye Richardson were among the big bidding wars.

The highest purse was available with ‘Punjab Kings’, formerly Kings XI Punjab, which had Rs 53.20 crore available for spending on nine spots.

IPL 2021 Player Auction: Chris Morris, Glenn Maxwell, and Jhye Richardson were among the big bidding wars.

Chris Morris was sold to Rajasthan Royals at the cost of Rs 16 crore 25 lakhs. Even as he became the most expensive player in the history of the Indian Premier League.

Likewise, Glenn Maxwell was brought by Royal Challengers Bangalore at the cost of Rs 14 crore 25 lakhs. He will be joining AB De Villiers and Virat Kohli for IPL 2021.

Punjab Kings put the stake on Australian fast bowler Jhye Richardson and bought it at the cost of Rs 14 crore.

Also, Punjab Kings brought David Malan at the cost of Rs 1 crore 50 lakhs while Shivam Dube was sold to Rajasthan Royals at the cost of Rs 4 crore 40 lakhs.

Chennai Super Kings brought Moeen Ali at the cost of Rs 7 crore. Steven Smith was sold to Delhi Capitals at the cost of Rs 220 lakhs. Shakib Al Hasan was sold to Kolkata Knight Riders at the cost of Rs 3 crore 20 lakhs at IPL 2021 Player Auction.
