As Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) marks its 99th Foundation day, party president Sukhbir Singh Badal participated in ‘ardas’ of Sri Akhand Path at Amritsar on Saturday. Sukhbir Singh Badal said in a tweet, “Today is landmark day for Punjabis. The party which reformed gurdwaras, participated in freedom struggle and led agitations for Punjabi suba, right to state waters and against emergency is marking 99th Foundation Day. Let us rededicate to ‘sewa’ of Punjab and Punjabiat.”
He added that “As I participate in ‘ardas’ of Sri Akhand Path to mark 99th Foundation Day, sacrifices made by past leaders and party workers come to mind. What we are today is because of their sacrifices. May Gurusahib give us strength to continue this rich tradition.”
“The strength of an organisation is reflected in dedication of members. Humbled by response of delegates and workers of Shiromani Akali Dal on 99th Foundation Day, I congratulate them on the historic occasion as we move to 2020 centenary,” Sukhbir Singh Badal said.
Also, senior SAD leader Bikram Singh Majithia said in a tweet, “As we mark 99th Foundation day, I pay tribute to martyrs and party workers who kept Akali flag high through thick and thin. Let us pledge to follow rich traditions set by our predecessors and rededicate ourselves to work for Punjab and Punjabiat with renewed vigour.”
