Appearing for the centre, ASG Aishwarya Bhati stated these facts to the bench of Justices B R Gavai and Vikram Nath.

The centre informed the top court that Ukraine-returned students can give and clear the examination within one year, Part I, followed by Part II after one year. Students will only be allowed to take Part II after Part I is cleared.

The government also informed the apex court that theory examination could be conducted centrally and physically, according to the pattern of the Indian MBBS examination. The practical can be conducted by some designated government medical colleges, assigned the responsibility.

Centre further apprised the apex Court that after clearing these two examinations, students would have to complete two years of compulsory rotatory internship. The first year of the internship will be free and the second year will be paid as has been decided by NMC for previous cases.
