Jodhpur case: Centre agrees to pay compensation without any pre condition The Central Government is ready to pay unconditional compensation to the 40 Sikhs who were arrested from the Golden Temple, Amritsar premises during Operation Blue Star that was carried out by the army against separatist militants. The appeal of the Central Government against the compensation given by the Amritsar Court to the 40 Sikhs detained from Sri Harmandir Sahib during Operation Blue Star has been rejected in the High Court. The central government said that the government is ready to give compensation without any condition. In addition, advocates of Sikh prisoners have said that with the compensation, cases running in the lower courts will end automatically. The compensation amount will be released by July 31, it said. During the Operation Blue Star in 1984, 40 Sikhs were taken as hostages by the Army and were kept in Jodhpur jail. When released, they filed cases in the courts and asked for compensation. Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh had disburse the state’s half of compensation to 40 persons who were illegally detained at the Jodhpur jail. -PTC News
