Monsoon advances! Rainfall to hit Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh in next 48 hours

The southwest monsoon has advanced today over entire Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh. Rainfall very likely at many parts of Tricity during next 48-72 hours, confirms India Meteorological Department here on Thursday. The MeT department added, Heavy rainfall also likely at isolated places during next 48 hours. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has put out a warning saying heavy to very heavy rain is likely in the city on Thursday and Friday. According to IMD’s definitions, the rainfall range is expected to be between 64.5mm and 244.4mm. Monsoon -- which has reached few parts of North India, including east Rajasthan and West Uttar Pradesh -- is likely to hit Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh is likely to reach the national capital by tomorrow or by 30th June, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said. Early morning rains brought the mercury level down in New Delhi, with the minimum temperature settling at 24.2 degrees Celsius, four notches below the season’s average. According to a MeT department official, 20.4 mm rainfall was recorded in the city. Humidity was recorded at 91%. -PTC News
