10-year-old domestic help on life support; CRPF constable, wife accused of starving, torturing her
PTC News Desk: A 10-year-old girl is battling for her life at a private hospital in Noida after she was allegedly subjected to physical torture over a prolonged period.
According to a CRPF official, a CRPF constable, Tariq Anwar, and his wife, Rimpa Khatoon, are facing serious allegations that the girl child was illegally kept as domestic labour and subjected to brutal physical abuse.
Reportedly, the CRPF officer has been suspended and the couple has been arrested.
A press release from the police said, “It is alleged that the accused began harassing and physically assaulting the victim over minor issues. On the intervening night of January 14 and 15, the accused assaulted the victim, due to which she is currently undergoing treatment in the hospital."
According to the officials familiar with the matter, the girl was illegally kept as a domestic helper and was assaulted multiple times and starved for an extended period. A CRPF official said the girl's condition indicates extreme violence she was subjected to.
