PTC Web Desk: Tragedy struck a family from Thiruvilwamala in Kerala district when their eight-year-old daughter was killed after the cellphone allegedly exploded. She was a student of Class 3. The victim was watching videos on the cellphone while it was on charging.

The police said the victim, identified as Adhithyasree, studied at Christ New Life school in Thiruvilwamala. Overheating of the battery might have led to the explosion. The incident took place at 10.30 pm on Monday, the police added.


Know how dangerous is it to use phone while charging

The temperature of the cellphone goes up while on charging, especially in very hot weather in the summer. Further, the temperature of the phone rises while using various games and applications. This heat can double if you use your cellphone while charging.

This affects electrical circuits and microchips inside the cellphone and in the long run these parts can cause you much damage. 

Further, charging the cellphone in the car can be more dangerous, especially if if is constantly exposed to the sun. 

Why do phones explode?

Cellphones explode due to multiple reasons, but the most common is the phone battery. Using cellphone while on charging generates heat and this can lead to explosion.
