Another Haryana student arrested allegedly for spying, sharing sensitive info with Pakistan
PTC News Desk: A college student was arrested from Haryana on suspicion of spying and passing sensitive information. The latest arrest comes moments after a Haryana based YouTuber was arrested for allegedly sharing information with Pakistani agencies.
Devendra Singh Dhillon, a 25-year-old student of political science at Patiala's Khalsa College, was arrested from Kaithal on May 12 for uploading photos of pistols and guns on his Facebook account. He also shared images of Patiala military cantonment with Pakistan's officers.
The interrogation revealed that he visited Pakistan through Kartarpur corridor and passed on confidential information to Pakistan Inter Services Intelligence agency. The reports suggest that a large amount of money was spent by Pakistani agencies to recruit Dhillon.
The police have also seized his phone which has been sent to forensics and bank details are being scrutinised to investigate the money train between Dhillon and Pakistani officers.
The crackdown on cross-border espionage follows a period of calm along the border that began on May 10, after India and Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire. This truce came in the wake of India's Operation Sindoor on May 7, which involved military strikes on nine terror targets located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. These cross-border strikes intensified already rising tensions, which had been escalating since the April 22 Pahalgam attack that claimed the lives of 26 civilians.
