Australian woman murder: Accused Rajvinder Singh moves plea to give his consent for extradition to Australia
New Delhi, January 7: In the 2018 murder case of an Australian woman, an application has been moved in Delhi's Patiala House Court on behalf of fugitive criminal Rajvinder Singh to give his consent to extradite him to Australia.
Earlier, the accused had stated his wish to go to Australia to contest the case there. On the way to the courtroom, Rajvinder said, "I did not kill the woman. I want this case to be investigated by the Australian police."
On being asked why he fled from Australia, he said that he would explain everything before the court.
Link Metropolitan Magistrate Swati Sharma scheduled a hearing on Rajvinder Singh's application for January 10. Love Deep Gaur, a Legal Aid Counsel (LAC), filed the application on Rajvinder Singh's behalf.
Singh was produced before the Link judge as the concerned judge was not available on Saturday.
Rajvinder had been in Australia for ten years, working as a male nurse, according to sources. He did not know the woman who was allegedly murdered by him. He has a bachelor's degree in science. He also obtained Australian citizenship and was married to an Australian citizen.
Rajvinder, an accused of killing an Australian woman in Queensland in 2018, was apprehended by the Delhi Police Special Cell. The Queensland Police Department announced a reward of one million Australian dollars, the highest amount ever offered by the department for information about the accused.
