Initially, the case was registered by the JP Nagar Traffic Police as a road accident. However, further investigation and CCTV footage revealed that the car had intentionally chased and hit the bike, confirming it was a premeditated act, said Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Lokesh Jagalasar.
“Preliminary investigation found that the two-wheeler had accidentally brushed against the car, breaking its side mirror. Enraged, the driver reversed his vehicle, followed the bike, and deliberately rammed into it, killing the rider,” the DCP added.
According to the police, the accused, a physical education teacher, later returned to the accident site with his wife, both wearing masks to hide their faces. They allegedly collected broken car parts from the scene to destroy evidence.
A case has been registered at Puttenahalli Police Station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for murder and destruction of evidence. Both the husband and wife have been taken into custody, officials confirmed.
