Missing 13-year-old boy's burnt body found; was kidnapped for ransom
PTC Web Desk: A 13-year-old boy, Nishchith A, who was reported missing on Wednesday evening, was found dead with burn injuries in a deserted area along Kaggalipura Road, Bengaluru. Two suspects were arrested following an encounter with the police late Thursday night.
Nishchith, a Class 8 student at Christ School, went missing from Arekere 80 Feet Road around 5 pm after leaving for a tuition class, according to his father JC Achit, an assistant professor at a private college.
By 7.30 pm, when the child had not returned home, his parents contacted the tuition teacher, who informed them that Nishchith had left on time. During the search, the family found his bicycle abandoned near Arekere Family Park. Soon after, they received a call from an unknown number demanding a ransom of Rs 5 lakh, following which they filed a missing person and kidnapping complaint at Hulimavu police station.
Police teams immediately began tracing the origin of the ransom call and launched an extensive search operation. On Thursday, they discovered the burnt body of the boy in a remote area near Kaggalipura.
Later that night, the police confronted two suspects—Gurumurthy and Gopal Krishna—near the crime scene. During the arrest, both accused allegedly attempted to assault police officials, leading to an encounter. Cops fired six rounds in self-defence, injuring Gurumurthy in both legs and Gopal Krishna in one.
Gurumurthy, a former spare driver at the victim’s home, was familiar with the family and is believed to have been the mastermind behind the abduction and murder.
The police said investigations were ongoing to uncover the exact motive and determine whether others were involved in the crime.
