Chandigarh double murder: Court sentences convict to life imprisonment for killing two sisters
PTC News Desk: A Chandigarh court on Monday ordered life sentence to Kuldeep for the 2019 murder of two sisters at a paying guest accomodation in Sector 22. The court has also imposed a fine of ₹30,000.
The incident dates back to August 2019 when the convict, Kuldeep Singh , resident of Zirakpur killed Manpreet Kaur after she refused to marry him. Meanwhile he also killed her sister Rajwant Kaur who intervened in order to save her sister. Notably, Kuldeep is the son of a retired Chandigarh Police inspector.
Both the Manpreet Kaur and Rajwant Kaur were residents of Fazilka and were staying at a PG in Chandigarh's sector 22. Both the sisters worked at a private company in Zirakpur and had been living together in the same house for about a year.
Kuldeep and Manpreet had been in a relationship since 2010, but Kuldeep began to suspect her when she started distancing herself from him. On the night of the incident, the accused entered the house through the rooftop and tried to check Manpreet’s phone.
Soon an argument between the two turned into an altercation. he first strangled Manpreet and banged her head against the floor. He then strangled her sister Rajwant as well. To ensure their deaths, he also stabbed them several times with scissors. The police arrested the accused from Delhi Railway Station based on CCTV footage and other evidence.
