Coimbatore's miniature artist pays tribute to Chandrayaan-3 with 1.5-inch gold model, salutes scientists
Coimbatore, August 22: In Coimbatore, a talented miniature artist has meticulously crafted a miniature version of Chandrayaan-3, the Indian Moon mission, standing at a mere 1.5 inches. Using a mere 4 grams of gold, Mariappan expressed his heartfelt appreciation for the dedicated scientists contributing to the Chandrayaan project.
Chandrayaan-3's Lunar Lander Vikram is all set for a soft landing on the moon on Wednesday, August 23, 2023.
"I make miniature models using gold every time an important event takes place. This is a proud moment for every Indian. To express my gratitude to all the scientists involved in the Chandrayaan project, I designed this model using 4 grams of gold. It took me 48 hours to design this," said Mariappan.
Meanwhile, people across India are hoping that this mission of ISRO is successful; and for the same special 'havans' are being performed across the nation.
Recently, ISRO unveiled fresh images of the lunar far side region, captured by Chandrayaan-3. Upon successful completion, India will become the fourth nation worldwide to accomplish this feat, following the United States, Russia, and China. Remarkably, India will stand alone as the sole country to execute a lunar landing on the southern pole.
Chandrayaan-3's core objectives encompass three key elements: demonstrating secure and gentle lunar surface landing, showcasing rover mobility on the moon, and conducting on-site scientific experiments.
The developmental journey of Chandrayaan-3 began in January 2020, targeting a launch in 2021. However, the unforeseen disruption caused by the Covid-19 pandemic led to an unexpected setback in the mission's timeline.
