Delhi biker death: Sub-contractor arrested, FIR registered for culpable homicide

PTC News Desk: Delhi Police have arrested sub-contractor Rajesh Prajapati in connection with the death of a young biker who fell into an open trench in Janakpuri, west Delhi. This is the first arrest in the case, which has caused public anger over safety negligence.

Police have filed an FIR at Janakpuri police station for culpable homicide against the contractor and officials of the Delhi Jal Board. Officers said the investigation is being treated as a priority and strict action will be taken against those found guilty.

Police said a family travelling on the same road saw the accident on the night it happened.

The family immediately informed a security guard at the site and a man living in a tent near the trench. Police said the man staying in the tent worked for sub-contractor Rajesh Prajapati and quickly informed him about the accident.

Investigators said Prajapati was told about the incident at 12:22 am by a junior staff member.

The investigation found that the security guard had first informed the junior employee, saying a person had fallen into the pit. The junior employee then called Prajapati and asked him to come to the site.
