Delhi Special Cell nabs inter-state arms supplier of Hashim Baba syndicate
PTC News Desk: Taking into account the recent trend of use of firearms in criminal activities in Delhi, Special Cell has been tasked to apprehend the illegal arms supplier based in the national capital. During one such operation, a team of Trans-Yamuna Range, Special Cell led by Inspector Sunil Teotia under the supervision of ACsP Sh. Rahul Kumar Singh & Kailash Bisht has arrested an inter-state arms supplier namely Imran @ Amjad, aged 35 yrs s/o Nizamuddin r/o Z-1/94 Lakdi Market, Welcome, Seelampur, Delhi on 03.06.2023.
A total of 12 semi-automatic pistols & single shot pistols and 55 live cartridges have been recovered from the accused person. A case under relevant provisions of Arms Act has been lodged at PS Special Cell in this regard.

OPERATION
On 3.06.2023, specific input was received by the team of Inspector Sunil Teotia that one Imran and Amzad r/o Delhi, who supplies illegal arms & ammunition to the members of Hashim Baba gang, would come at Jafrabad Metro Station at around 9.00 PM to supply weapons to one of his associates. Accordingly, a trap was laid and accused Imran and Amzad was apprehended at around 9.15 PM from the road near Jafrabad Metro Station, Delhi.
BACKGROUND AND INTERROGATION
Earlier, the accused Imran and Amjad would sell jeans at Gandhi Nagar, Delhi. However, he left this business in 2016 and entered the world of crime. He was first arrested in the year 2016 itself when he along with his associates had looted a money changer Ramesh Kumar of Rs. 36 lakhs at ITO flyover. A case vide FIR No. 345/16 was registered at PS Shakarpur, Delhi in this regard and total 5 accused persons including Imran and Amjad were arrested in the case. During his stay at Tihar Jail, he came in the contact of one Annu, an arms supplier of Meerut, UP. After getting released from jail, the accused started procuring illegal arms from Annu to supply the same to the members of Hashim Baba gang and other criminals of Delhi/NCR. In 2021, the accused was again arrested at Murad Nagar, UP in a case of arms trafficking. In Dasna jail, he came in the contact of one Shakeel @ Shahid r/o Rataul, UP and after coming out of jail; he started procuring weapons from Shakeel. The accused has also disclosed that he would purchase one pistol for around Rs. 40,000/ and sell it for Rs. 50, 000-55,000/-.

4. 05 live cartridges of .315 bore
