CBI FIR names Aaditya, Uddhav Thackeray and others in Disha Salian death probe
PTC Web Desk: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered an FIR to examine the circumstances surrounding the death of Disha Salian, with the document naming Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray and his father, former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, among those whose roles are to be investigated.
The FIR follows a direction from the Bombay High Court for a detailed probe into the circumstances surrounding Salian’s death in 2020.
Apart from the Thackerays, the CBI has also mentioned actors Dino Morea, Sooraj Pancholi, Rhea Chakraborty and her brother Showik Chakraborty in the FIR. Their names appear among several people whose alleged roles in the case and the subsequent handling of the investigation are to be examined.
The list also includes members of Aaditya Thackeray’s security detail, former Mumbai police officials Sachin Waze and Param Bir Singh, DCP Vishal Thakur, former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh and several other serving and retired police personnel.
CBI investigators are also looking into the conduct of officers attached to Malvani police station, medical professionals and staff associated with the post-mortem process and personnel from the Forensic Science Laboratory in Kalina. Assistant Chemical Analyser N P Bhale is among those named in the FIR.
Security guards working at Regent Galaxy Building, including Sushil Kumar Yadav and Shivmurad Gautam, alias Munna, have also been named. The FIR further refers to members of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) and senior police officers who supervised the earlier inquiry.
The agency has also included unidentified individuals, stating that their roles in the alleged offences and suspected efforts to conceal information will have to be established during the investigation.

How Disha Salian case began
Disha Salian, a former celebrity manager, died on June 8, 2020, after falling from a building in Mumbai. Her death occurred less than a week before actor Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead at his Bandra residence on June 14.
At the time, Salian’s death was recorded as an Accidental Death Report (ADR).
The issue resurfaced before the Bombay High Court after concerns were raised about the manner in which the case had been handled. During an earlier hearing, a Division Bench comprising Justices Bharti Dangre and Manjusha Deshpande questioned why an ADR had been registered despite claims from Salian’s family that she had been murdered.
The court also took note of the fact that Salian’s family had reportedly not received copies of her post-mortem report or the ADR even five years after her death.
Disha Salian’s father gives names to investigators
After the court ordered the CBI probe, Salian’s father, Satish Salian, said he had provided investigators with information about the circumstances surrounding his daughter’s death.
In a statement to ANI on Friday, he said he had given authorities the names of several people whom he wanted investigated, including Aaditya Thackeray, Sooraj Pancholi, Dino Morea and security personnel.
Satish Salian said investigators had recorded the information he provided and assured him that appropriate action would follow.
He also expressed confidence that the investigation would ultimately establish the truth and lead to justice for his daughter.
Shweta Singh Kirti welcomes CBI probe
The development has also been welcomed by Shweta Singh Kirti, the sister of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput. In a social media video, Shweta said she hoped the CBI investigation would help uncover the truth about the circumstances surrounding Salian’s death. She said the development had brought renewed hope to Rajput’s supporters.
