Farmer leader Rakesh Tikait heckled at anti-terror rally in UP, BKU calls emergency mahapanchayat
PTC News Desk: The Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU) has called an emergency 'Kisan Mahapanchayat' in Muzaffarnagar on Saturday after farmer leader Rakesh Tikait was heckled at an anti-terror rally organised in against the Pahalgam Terror Attack. During the rally a certain section of people opposed Tikait's participation resulting in altercation.
BKU national president Naresh Tikait announced that the panchayat would be held at the GIC ground in Muzaffarnagar to deliberate on the incident.
Tikait alleged that the incident was part of a larger conspiracy orchestrated by a certain political party to weaken the farmers' movement. "The incident was not spontaneous. It was pre-planned and driven by political motives," Naresh Tikait said, adding that farmers from across the region were beginning to gather in Sisauli and Muzaffarnagar ahead of the panchayat scheduled to begin in the afternoon.
Earlier of Friday, Rakesh Tikait was allegedly heckled and purported videos of the incident also showed his turban falling off.
Rakesh Tikait also reiterated that the incident was politically motivated and some youths were deliberately sent to disrupt the rally who believed to be under the influence of alcohol.
