Massive fire on INS Brahmaputra causes severe damage; sailor missing
PTC News Desk: A fire erupted on the Indian Naval Ship Brahmaputra, causing severe damage to the ship while it was undergoing a refit at the Naval Dockyard (Mumbai).
According to the Navy, a junior sailor is missing and rescue teams are searching for him. The navy stated that all other personnel had been accounted for.
The fire broke out on Sunday (July 21) and the ship's crew with the assistance of firefighters from the Naval Dockyard and other ships in the harbour managed to bring the blaze under control on Monday morning.
The ship is lying on its side. "Despite all efforts, the ship could not be brought to the upright position. The ship continued to list further alongside her berth and is presently resting on one side."
