Former Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao hospitalised after fall, may require surgery

PTC News Desk: Former Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao reportedly fell at his home at around 2 am on Friday and had to be admitted to hospital in Hyderabad.

The 69-year-old may have suffered a hip fracture after the fall and may require surgery, doctors said.

He was brought to Hyderabad's Yashoda Hospital at 2 a.m. on Friday. Since losing the state assembly elections three days ago, the former Chief Minister has been meeting with individuals at his residence.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also extended his wishes to the injured Telangana politician. Taking to X, the PM said, "Distressed to know that former Telangana CM Shri KCR Garu has suffered an injury. I pray for his speedy recovery and good health."

The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader served as the Chief Minister of Telangana from 2014 till 2023 after the Congress defeated his party in the recently concluded Assembly polls.

KCR ran for two seats in Telangana, winning the Gajwel seat but losing to Kamareddy. He lost the Kamareddy seat to the BJP's Katipally Venkata Ramana Reddy, who defeated both KCR and Revanth Reddy.

Revanth Reddy of the Congress was sworn in as Telangana's Chief Minister Thursday along with 11 other ministers.

The Congress received 64 seats in Telangana's 119-member assembly, while the BRS received only 39. This was BRS' first defeat since Telangana was formed in 2014.
