PTC News Desk: Four railway officials have been suspended after a train in a deteriorated condition was allotted to carry Border Security Personnel from Jammu and Kashmir for security duty during the Amarnath Yatra. The officers who have been suspended with immediate effect include the Officer of Coaching Depot and three senior Section Engineers of Alipurduar Division.

The incident came to the fore after a video of the train in dilapidated condition which was allotted to carry BSF personnel went viral. The video showed filthy compartments, bad structure, piles of dirt and garbage in compartment. As the video went viral, the Railway clarified that the compartments were sent for overhauling and were mistakenly attached to the BSF special train.

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, who took action after the complaint, has also ordered a probe into the matter. A new train has been arranged for the BSF personnel and the minister has directed that there should be no repeat of such an incident in future.

After the uproar on social media, NW Frontier Railway clarified on X that the allegation that such a coach was provided to BSF for travel is wrong.

Amarnath Yatra is scheduled to commence from July 3.
