PTC News Desk: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Saturday announced a prize of ₹7.50 crore for the Indian Under-19 team after their World Cup victory. The team, led by Ayush Mhatre, defeated England by 100 runs at the Harare Sports Club to win India’s record sixth U-19 World Cup title.
Although the ICC did not give any cash reward, the BCCI decided to honour the team for their historic achievement. BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed the prize and said the entire country is proud of the young players.
BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla also praised the team, saying they played brilliantly and deserved appreciation. He specially praised Vaibhav Suryavanshi, saying he dominated the match with his batting and hit around 15 sixes. Shukla said the victory shows the success of BCCI’s long-term efforts to develop young cricket talent in India.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi scored an incredible 175 runs off 80 balls, the highest score in a U-19 World Cup final, helping India reach 411 runs for nine wickets in 50 overs. Captain Ayush Mhatre scored 53 runs, while Abhigyan Kundu made 40 runs and Kanishk Chouhan added an unbeaten 37 runs, helping India set a massive target.
