Illegal mining case: ED summons Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren's press advisor

Illegal mining case: Launching a probe in money laundering case linked to illegal mining, the Enforcement Directorate summoned Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren's press advisor, Abhishek Prasad to join its investigation on January 16. 

The Directorate of Enforcement (ED) also summoned Deputy Commissioner of Sahibganj, Ramnivas Yadav on January 11 and one Vinod Singh on January 15.

The summon against Hemant Soren's press advisor, Abhishek Prasad came after the day-long search by Enforcement Directorate at the 12 locations linked to Chief Minister Hemant Soren and his media advisor Abhishek Prasad on Wednesday.

The ED raided the residence of the press advisor to Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren in Ranchi in connection with money laundering case. 

This is not the first time that Enforcement Directorate issued summon to CM soren. The recent summon issued to Jharkhand CM marks the seventh summon from agency. 

Earlier in mid-August, Hemant Soren received a summons from the ED in relation to a land 'scam' case. Despite being called to appear on August 24 and September 9, the Chief Minister chose to ignore the summons, attributing his absence to his involvement in the state's Independence Day celebrations and other commitments. Subsequently, the agency issued a fourth summons to the Jharkhand CM, directing him to present himself before the agency on September 23.

Notably, Hemant Soren is an Indian politician and current Chief Minister of Jharkhand since 2019. Soren is also a prominent leader of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), a regional political party in Jharkhand and has been active in Jharkhand's political landscape and has focused on issues related to tribal rights and the development of the state.
