Rain alert: Parts of national capital and northwest India to receive heavy rain
Chandigarh, March 31: The India Meteorological Department predicted moderate rainfall with thundering and hailstorm over northwest, east and northeast India from March 30 to April 1. The northwest states received heavy rainfall, which led to water-logging in parts of Delhi on late Thursday evening.
Due to the weather condition, there are 20 flights which are diverted from the national capital airport. The weather condition was unexpected which forced the flights to get diverted to the nearby airports like Lucknow, Jaipur, Dehradun and Chandigarh.

The IMD has predicted heavy rain with hailstorm over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Bihar, Jharkhand and East Rajasthan for Friday. Heavy rainfall is also expected in parts of Jammu and Kashmir. According to IMD, Delhi received the highest rainfall in a single day in March in three years.
As the major concern is for the farmers, IMD issued an advisory to postpone harvesting. “Complete the harvesting of matured crops in Jammu, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan during clear weather,” the IMD said.
