Qin’s last public appearance was on 25 June, and Xi officially removed him from office by a decree signed on 25 July.

Srinagar, August 9: The annual Amarnath Yatra pilgrimage, a sacred journey to the revered Shri Amarnath cave shrine, has been temporarily halted as a result of a landslide occurrence along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway within the Ramban district. The disruption was confirmed by officials on Wednesday.

The obstruction on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway has led to the suspension of the Amarnath Yatra route from Jammu to Srinagar, as well as the suspension of the Yatra movement from the Pantha Chowk base camp to Jammu. The pilgrimage will resume only after the authorities have successfully cleared the national highway for traffic.

Authorities from the Jammu and Kashmir traffic police department reported that the blockade occurred due to a landslide incident at a location known as T2 Marog Ramban along the Jammu-Srinagar NHW. Commuters and travelers have been strongly advised against venturing onto NH-44 without receiving prior confirmation from the Traffic Control Unit (TCU).

This year's Amarnath Yatra, which commenced on July 1, is scheduled to conclude on August 31, 2023. The pilgrimage, lasting for a span of 62 days, holds immense spiritual significance for devotees who undertake this arduous journey.

In a separate development, preparations for the upcoming Independence Day celebrations and the forthcoming Budda Amarnath Yatra, set to begin on August 17, were reviewed by the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) for the Jammu Zone, along with the Divisional Commissioner of Jammu. The security review meeting, attended by both police and civil administration representatives, assessed the security landscape and arrangements.

Mukesh Singh, the ADGP for Jammu Zone, accompanied by Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar and DIG Rajouri Poonch Range Haseeb Mughal, convened this important security meeting. A statement from the Jammu and Kashmir police highlighted their focus on ensuring the safety and success of both the Independence Day celebrations and the Budda Amarnath Yatra.

During this meeting, the ADGP Jammu and Divisional Commissioner were briefed on security-related matters by SSP Poonch Vinay Kumar and DC Poonch Yaseen Mohd Choudhary. Additionally, the ADGP Jammu and the Divisional Commissioner held a productive interaction with members of the civil society in Poonch, which included prominent lawyers and elected representatives. The attendees expressed their commitment to extending full cooperation for the smooth execution of the Independence Day celebrations and the peaceful conduct of the yatra.
