Man slits girl's throat for turning down his proposal, kills self
PTC News Desk: A man allegedly killed himself by jumping into a lake in Maharashtra's Palghar district hours after attacking and killing an 18-year-old girl in broad daylight over a one-sided affair, authorities said on Saturday.
On Saturday morning, the body of Prabhakar Waghare (22) was found in a lake in the district's Mokhada area, according to Palghar Superintendent of Police Balasaheb Patil.
According to him, an accidental death case has been filed and the body has been sent for a post-mortem.
Waghare had fled into the forest after attacking Archana Udhar, a Class 12 student, who was walking with her classmates from a junior college at 11 a.m. on Friday, he added.
According to the official, the accused slit the girl's throat with a sharp weapon and killed her.
Waghare was jilted after the girl declined his proposal. His parents also approached the victim's parents but had no positive response, according to the official.
He went on to say that the accused had planned to kill the girl on her birthday two days ago.
