No interim relief for Kejriwal; High Court to hear plea on April 3

PTC News Desk: Delhi High Court has refused to grant relief to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Kejriwal had filed a petition challenging his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the excise policy case.

The court gave ED seven days to respond and set April 3 as the next date of hearing.

In his plea before the Delhi High Court, Kejriwal claimed that the ED's actions violated his fundamental rights.

"The DOE has at the time of arrest has failed to establish that Petitioner is guilty of committing activities stipulated under Section 3, i.e., be it one of concealment, possession, acquisition, use of proceeds of crime as much as projecting it as untainted property or claiming it to be so," Kejriwal said in his plea.

The Delhi Chief Minister further criticised his arrest without being questioned, implying a premeditated and political motive for the proceedings.

Earlier in the day, Kejriwal's wife Sunita addressed public through a video message, announcing that Kejriwal would do a "big expose" on the alleged excise policy scam in court on March 28 and also present evidence.

She claimed that when she met the Delhi Chief Minister in ED custody, Kejriwal informed her that the central agency had conducted over 250 raids in connection with the "so-called liquor scam" in the previous two years, but "not a single paisa" had been found in any of the raids.
