Operation Kaveri: IAF plane carrying 246 Indians evacuated from Sudan lands in Mumbai

Mumbai, April 27: IAF plane carrying the second batch of Indian nationals evacuated from violence-hit Sudan landed in Mumbai on Thursday.

The Indian Air Force plane, which took off from Jeddah earlier today, returned 246 Indians as part of Operation Kaveri.

"Another #OperationKaveri flight comes to Mumbai. 246 more Indians come back to the motherland," External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said on Twitter.

The first batch of 360 Indians landed in New Delhi yesterday.

The government initiated "Operation Kaveri" to remove stranded Indians from Sudan, where the Sudanese Army and paramilitary groups are battling.

On Monday, warring factions in Sudan agreed to a 72-hour ceasefire, mediated by the United States and Saudi Arabia, while countries are evacuating their citizens from the country.
