PTC News Desk: The opposition is considering to move impeachment motion against Chief Election Commision Gyanesh Kumar over alleged 'vote theft', according to cources. Congress MP Imran Pratapgarhi remarked, "We will be taking a decision very soon."

The process to remove Chief Election Commissioner is similar to that of a Supreme Court Judge. The motion rquired two-third majority in both the Houses of the Parliament, a number that Opposition certainly lacks.

Meanwhile, the poll body chief firmly rejected the opposition's allegations electoral fraud levelled by the Congress and its leader Rahul Gandhi, calling them as an 'insult to constitution'.

Earlier, Rahul Gandhi had alleged irregularities such as duplicate entries, voters listed with house number zero, and dozens of voters registered to the same address.

While rejcting the allegations, CEC Kumar said that the claims are sheer misinterpretation of facts and further clarifying that no complaints will be accepted on the draft list of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Bihar after September 1.

Addressing specific charges, the Election Commission said allegations of duplicate voting had been mischaracterised. "It is one thing to have a voter's name in more than one booth, and quite another to actually cast votes at two places," Kumar explained.

"When asked for proof, no answer was given. The Election Commission wants to make it clear that it fearlessly stood, stands and will stand like a rock with all the voters of all religions and all sections of society," he said.
