Notably, just minutes before Prime Minister Narendra Modi began his speech in Parliament, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi sharply criticised the Centre, alleging that the armed forces lacked "freedom of operation and manoeuvre" during Operation Sindoor. In a strong rebuttal, PM Modi asserted that the government had given the military complete autonomy and stressed that Pakistan was left powerless in response.

Recalling Pakistan’s desperation during the offensive, PM Modi said, “Pakistan’s Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) contacted us and said, ‘Bas karo, bahut maara hai’ (Please stop, we've suffered enough), pleading for a ceasefire.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday credited the people of India for standing firmly with him during Operation Sindoor, saying their support empowered the government to act decisively against terrorism.
“After the Pahalgam attack, I had promised to eliminate the elements of terror. That promise has been fulfilled,” the Prime Minister said while addressing a public gathering.
Responding to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s allegations that the armed forces were restrained by the government, PM Modi said, “The armed forces were given a free hand to take down the terrorists and teach them a lesson. No restrictions were imposed.”
In a sharp warning to Islamabad, PM Modi added, “We do not differentiate between terrorist masterminds and the governments that support them. They will be treated as one.”
Referring to the ongoing military action, the Prime Minister asserted that Operation Sindoor was still underway. “If Pakistan dares to make another mistake, it will have to pay a heavy price,” he warned.
PM Modi claimed that no international leader asked India to halt the operation. “There was no pressure from any global power. We acted in India’s interest, and we acted firmly,” he said.
He further revealed that India’s missile defence systems successfully intercepted and neutralised Pakistani drone and missile attacks during the course of the operation.
BJP President and Rajya Sabha Member JP Nadda has slammed Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge's comments on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He demanded that the unparliamentary words should be expunged from Kharge's speech.

Leader of Opposition and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge in a scathing attack on central government over the security lapses questioned the ruling government that who shall be held accountable for the deadly Pahalgam attack.
"India is ready to help Pakistan eliminate terrorism from its soil, if it so desires. Both India and Pakistan celebrate Independence Day around the same time. But while Pakistan is globally known as the hub of terrorism, India is hailed as the mother of democracy," the Defence Minister said.
Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi during her address in Lok Sabha questioned the absence of security personnel at Pahalgam where the killings were orchestrated.
"No proper security or medical arrangement were ensured at the place leaving the people at mercy of God," she said.
"Why was not even one security personnel present there — in Baisaran Valley, Pahalgam?" she asked in the Lok Sabha during the Operation Sindoor debate. "Is the safety and security of citizens not the responsibility of the Prime Minister, the Home Minister, and the Defence Minister?" she added.
In a sharp jibe at the Modi government, SP MP Akhilesh Yadav said that it was President Donald Trump who was asked to announce the ceasefire between India and Pakistan.
"When the ceasefire between India and Pakistan happened, who announced it? Did our government do it? No. Centre asked its 'friend' Donald Trump to do it instead," Akhilesh said in the House, targeting the ruling BJP.

Union Home Minister during his address said that the Indian Armed Forces were given a free hand by Cabinet Committee on Security to respond to the Pahalgam terror attack. "On 30th April, there was a meeting of the CCS, in which the security forces were given complete operational freedom. Operation Sindoor was launched on May 7 and carried out between 1.04 am and 1.24 am. In this operation, nine terror sites in Pakistan were destroyed. No Pakistani civilians were killed in this attack," he said.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday during his address in Lok Sabha confirmed that three terrorists involved in Pahalgam attack were killed on Monday in a joint operation under the banner of 'Operation Mahadev'.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will speak on the Operation Sindoor discussion in the Lok Sabha around 12.40 pm today. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will speak in the Rajya Sabha at 2 pm. The Upper House was adjourned till 2 pm folowing chaos in the House shortly after commencement.

Defence Minister blatantly warned that any kind of misadventure or provocation by Pakistan will result in immediate resumption of Operation Sindoor. Singh also maintained that while India agreed to cease the hostilities as urged by Pakistan after heavy damage, this was not a sign of weakness.
