PM Modi congratulates Nitish Kumar; NDA vows dedicated service to Bihar

PTC News Desk: Prime Minister Narendra Modi extends congratulations to Nitish Kumar on his 9th term as Bihar Chief Minister, expressing commitment to Bihar's progress under the NDA government.

In a tweet, PM Modi stated, "The NDA government formed in Bihar will leave no stone unturned for the development of the state and to fulfil the aspirations of its people. I congratulate Nitish Kumar as Chief Minister, and Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Sinha ji on taking oath as Deputy Chief Ministers."

He expressed confidence in the team's dedication to serving the people of Bihar, emphasizing their commitment to the state's welfare.

Nitish Kumar took the oath at Raj Bhavan after resigning as Bihar CM at the Janata Dal (United) legislative meeting earlier in the day. The political landscape in Bihar has seen shifts, with Nitish Kumar winning the 2020 assembly elections in alliance with the BJP under the NDA. His JD (U) secured 43 seats, while the BJP won 74.

Following a brief divergence from the NDA in 2022, Nitish Kumar aligned with the 'Mahagathbandhan' alliance, including the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Congress, and Left. In 2022, he once again took the oath as Bihar Chief Minister, this time under the 'Mahagathbandhan,' with RJD chief Tejashwi Yadav as Deputy Chief Minister.

In the 2015 assembly elections, the 'Mahagathbandan' emerged victorious with 178 out of 243 seats, where JD (U) won 71, RJD 80, and Congress 27. In 2017, Nitish Kumar returned to the NDA alliance with BJP's support and resumed his role as Chief Minister.

PM Modi's congratulatory message underscores the importance of continued collaboration for Bihar's progress and development. Nitish Kumar's political journey, marked by strategic shifts and alliances, continues to shape the political landscape in the state.
