PM Modi emerges as most popular global leader; know where Trudeau, Biden rank
PTC News Desk: With 78% approval ratings, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has emerged as the most popular global leader as per a survey by a US-based global decision intelligence agency Morning Consult.
PM Modi is more popular than US President Joe Biden, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Rishi Sunak of the United Kingdom.
According to the agency's website, the most recent approval ratings were compiled from data collected between January 30 and February 5. The ratings are based on a week's moving average of views among adults in each country that was surveyed.
The 73-year-old Indian Prime Minister is seeking a third consecutive term in office, a feat previously accomplished by India's first prime minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.
Nehru was sworn in on August 15, 1947, the day India gained independence. He led Congress to victory in 1952, 1957, and 1962 before his death in 1964.
According to the Morning Consult Survey, PM Modi had the highest approval rating at 78%. Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador came in second with a 65% approval rating, while Argentina's Javier Milei ranked third with a 63% approval rating.
Meanwhile, US President Joe Biden ranked 11 with an approval rate of 37% and UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak ranked 20 with approval of 25%. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is at the 17 spot with 29% approval.
