Priyanka Gandhi criticises PM Modi's response to Manipur violence

PTC News Desk: In a scathing rebuke, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra denounced Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP, highlighting the inadequacy of grandiose advertisements in the face of ongoing violence in Manipur. The criticism follows the tragic shooting of four villagers in Thoubal district.

Priyanka Gandhi pointedly addressed PM Modi's absence in Manipur, neither visiting the state nor engaging with its leaders amid the prevailing turmoil. Expressing dismay over the situation, she questioned the leadership's silence and lack of decisive action amidst eight months of persistent violence, curfews, and unrest.

"Four people lost their lives in Manipur, numerous injured, and several districts are under curfew. Manipur has endured murder, violence, and destruction for eight months. When will this distressing trend cease?" Priyanka Gandhi questioned in her statement. Criticising the apparent absence of engagement or actions from PM Modi, she underscored the disparity between the need for leadership and the ostentatious projection of accomplishments through advertisements.

Emphasising the urgency for effective government intervention to restore stability in Manipur, Priyanka Gandhi highlighted the ongoing strife, where around 200 lives have been claimed since May amid clashes between ethnic groups.
