Rajasthan: Bengal student takes own life in Kota, marking the 28th suicide this year
Kota student suicide: Another tragic incident occurred in Kota, Rajasthan, where a student from West Bengal, Forid, committed suicide. Forid was residing in Kota's Waqf Nagar area, rigorously preparing for the NEET examination, a significant step for admission into medical courses across India.
This heartbreaking event marks the 28th suicide in Kota this year, amplifying concerns in this educational hub that attracts students nationwide for competitive exam coaching.
Forid's body was discovered hanging in his room, prompting a police investigation. He was last seen by fellow students around 4 pm, after which his room remained locked until 7 pm without any response to calls. Concerned, his friends sought help from the landlord, leading to the tragic discovery.
The police are actively probing the circumstances surrounding Forid's death, contacting his family and preparing for a postmortem examination before releasing the body to his relatives.
Kota has been grappling with a distressing surge in student suicides recently, prompting local authorities to take preventive measures. Mandatory installation of anti-hanging devices in coaching centers' ceiling fans has been ordered, and institutes have been directed to refrain from conducting any exams for a two-month period. These steps aim to address the alarming rise in such tragic incidents and ensure student well-being within this competitive academic environment.
