Rajasthan: Bus rams into stationary truck; school principal, student among killed
Rajasthan Accident: A bus with 29 onboard rammed into a dumper parked on roadside in Rajasthan's Barmer district on Saturday night, killing a government school principal and a girl student.
The deceased have been identified as school principal Mohammad Ibrahim and girl student Savina.
This unfortunate incident occurred about 8:00 p.m. in the village of Sehlau.
According to officials, the passengers included 24 female students from Swami Vivekananda Government Model School in Detani, as well as four others, including the principal and three teachers.
"They were returning from a victorious tournament in Raniwara," they explained.
According to officials, the bus driver failed to notice a dumper truck parked on the side of Bharat Mala Road near Sehlau village and crashed into it.
"The exact reason behind the accident is, however, not clear," police said, adding that the truck was parked with its parking lights switched off, which led to the bus driver not noticing the vehicle.
The collision was so severe that the conductor's side of the bus was severely damaged, and the school principal, who was seated there, died on the spot.
When residents in the neighbourhood heard the crash, they hurried to the scene and called an ambulance.
After receiving information, the police team rushed to the spot and helped the locals in taking those injured in the accident to the hospital.
"20 of them were seriously injured and taken to Chauhatan Hospital, while nine others have been sent to Gagariya Hospital."
While the school principal died on the spot, the female student died while undergoing treatment. "Students whose condition is critical have been referred to Jodhpur for treatment," ADM Anjum Tahir Samma informed.
