Rameshwaram cafe blast: NIA arrests 2 mastermind behind the explosion from Kolkata

Rameshwaram cafe blast:  In the major breakthrough in Rameshwaram cafe in Bengaluru, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday arrested two key absconders and the architect behind the explosion at Rameshwaram cafe in Bengaluru identified as Adbul Matheen Taha and Mussavir Hussain Shazeb from Kolkata.

On early morning hours on Friday, NIA said, its teams were successful in tracing the absconding accused near Kolkata, where they were hiding under false identities.

In on official statement, NIA said, "This pursuit, successfully accomplished by NIA was ably supported by energetic coordinated action and co-operation between NIA, Central Intelligence agencies and State Police agencies of West Bengal, Telangana, Karnataka, and Kerala police." 

The arrests come days after the anti-terror agency in a bid to bolster its investigation into the case, widened its scope by delving into the social circles and past associations of the accused, including friends in school-time and college.

As part of its investigation process, the anti-terror agency had also intensified its efforts in the case by summoning and scrutinizing some acquaintances, including college and school-time friends, of both absconding and arrested accused.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has initiated a comprehensive investigation into the alleged activities of the suspects involved in the Rameshwaram Cafe blast on March 1 at ITPL Road in Bengaluru's Whitefield area. As part of its strategy to uncover crucial evidence and gather information pertinent to the case, the agency has begun calling in individuals associated with the suspects from various spheres of their lives for questioning.

This concerted effort is aimed at piecing together the puzzle surrounding the accused's alleged activities, with a specific focus on tracing their connections and potential motives. The NIA has reiterated its commitment to leaving no stone unturned in its pursuit of justice.


Additionally, the NIA has appealed for the cooperation of all stakeholders in apprehending the absconding accused persons. In its investigation, the agency has identified two key suspects responsible for carrying out the IED blast. These individuals are residents of the Thirthahalli area in Karnataka's Shivamogga district.

Earlier on March 29, the NIA also declared rewards of Rs 10 lakh on each of the two key absconders.
