UP shocker: 6-year-old girl dies after sexual assault in Bulandshahr; two accused arrested after encounter
PTC Web Desk: A six-year-old girl died following an alleged sexual assault in Bulandshahr district, the police said on Saturday. The incident was reported late on January 2, when the child was found critically injured and later declared dead at a local health facility.
According to police officials, information was received about a minor girl lying in a severely injured condition. She was immediately taken to Community Health Centre in Sikandrabad, where doctors declared her dead during treatment.
Based on a complaint filed by the victim’s father, a case was registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The father stated that two men, identified as Raju and Veeru Kashyap, were tenants in the same building where the family lived.
He told the police that his daughter had been playing on the rooftop before she went missing. Her body was later found in a field behind the building, leading the family to suspect sexual assault followed by fatal injuries.
Given the seriousness of the case, the Senior Superintendent of Police constituted three special teams to trace and apprehend the accused. The police later received intelligence that the suspects were hiding at a location in an under-construction residential area.
When a police team reached the spot and attempted to detain them, the accused allegedly fired at the officials. The police retaliated in self-defence, injuring both suspects in their legs. They were arrested on the spot and shifted to a hospital for medical treatment.
During preliminary questioning, the accused reportedly admitted their involvement in the crime. Further investigation is ongoing, the police said.
