Water shortage: SC directs Himachal to release surplus water to Delhi by June 7
Water shortage: The Supreme Court ordered the Himachal Pradesh government to give 137 cusecs of surplus water on Friday to help Delhi cope with the water shortage.
The Supreme Court said the Himachal Pradesh government has agreed to discharge surplus water. It also directed the Haryana government to enable the release of water via the Wazirabad barrage.
In addition, the Supreme Court ordered that the Delhi government refrain from wasting water and provide a status report by June 10.
The Supreme Court directed the Upper Yamuna River Board to measure the water discharged by Himachal Pradesh at Hathnikund.
