WB police officer questioned by CBI over coal scam case

Kolkata, March 14: On Tuesday, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) questioned the Inspector-in-Charge (IC) of Birbhum's Suri police station Mohammad Ali in Kolkata. The CBI is questioning in connection with the coal scam.  

Sources from the CBI said that -in-Charge (IC) of Birbhum's Suri police station Mohammad Ali was summoned on the charges of receiving protection money from Anup Majhi alias Lala. He is one of the key accused in the coal scam. The central agencies conducted continuous operation against the coal scam in West Bengal.

CBI is not questioning the police office for the first time, there are several other police officials including IPS officers were also questioned in the past regarding the ongoing probe on coal smuggling case. 

Earlier, the CBI had interrogated Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Abhishek Banerjee's wife Rujira Banerjee and sister-in-law Maneka Gambhir in the coal scam. The agency also interrogated Gambhir's husband and father-in-law in connection with the coal scam.
