Tributes pour in as Assam govt plans memorial for Zubeen Garg; second autopsy on Tuesday
PTC Web Desk: Assam is preparing to bid a final farewell to legendary singer Zubeen Garg, with a second post-mortem scheduled for Tuesday amid ongoing investigations into his sudden demise. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed that the autopsy will be conducted at Guwahati Medical College around 7:30 am under the supervision of a team from AIIMS Guwahati. The step comes following widespread public demand for transparency regarding the circumstances of the singer’s death.

Arrangements for Zubeen Garg’s funeral are underway at his native Kamarkuchi NC village, where family members and state authorities are coordinating to ensure the ceremony reflects his immense contribution to music and culture. The last rites are expected to commence around 8 am.
In a significant tribute, Assam Minister and Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) working president Keshab Mahanta announced that the government has allocated 10 bighas of land at the funeral site to build a memorial in the singer's honour. Minister Atul Bora added that the decision was made in accordance with the family’s wishes, highlighting the immense respect and love the people of Assam and beyond hold for the singer.
