Punjab Post Matric Scholarship Scheme: National Commission for Scheduled Castes chairman Vijay Sampla has summoned Punjab Chief Secretary, Vini Mahajan along with three officers on June 17 for not giving any response to three notices sent by the Commission to the Punjab government.
Three separate notices were sent to the Punjab government by the National Commission for Scheduled Castes to redress the problems being faced by the Scheduled Caste students under the Post Matric Scholarship Scheme across Punjab.
However, the Punjab government failed to respond even till the deadline, June 10. Thus, taking a strict cognizance of it, the chairman of the National Commission for Scheduled Castes, Vijay Sampla, summoned the Chief Secretary of Punjab, along with three other officers to Delhi on June 17.
A 15-day notice was issued on May 25 while other notices were issued on June 7 and June 10, respectively.
Vijay Sampla has asked Punjab’s Chief Secretary, Principal Secretary of the Department of Social Justice, Empowerment & Minorities, and the Principal Secretary of the Department of Higher Education, to come out with the latest Action Taken Report on June 17.
Along with this, the commission has asked them to bring along files related to post-matric scholarship, case diary, and all the documents related to that matter.
Sampla said that it was his duty as the chairman of the commission to ensure the rights given by the constitution of the country to the scheduled class of India.
