Netflix likely to roll out TikTok-style 'Fast Laughs' feature on TV app

Washington, February 23: Netflix is testing a new feature titled 'Fast Laughs,' which is a curated stream of comedy clips, on its TV app. According to The Verge, the feature allows you to browse through a collection of 30 seconds or longer funny short videos from Netflix shows and movies, with the idea of introducing you to new content or assisting you in choosing what to watch. You can access 'Fast Laughs' by scrolling down on the Netflix homepage until you reach the 'Fast Laughs' row once you've opted into the feature (and if you're part of the test). From there, you can enter the feature, which will fill your screen with full-screen clips from 'Army of the Dead,' 'Big Mouth,' Jerry Seinfeld's stand-up special, and more. However, the algorithm-free 'Fast Laughs' may expose you to content other than what Netflix's deeply ingrained recommendation system already directs your attention to, which can quickly get stale. Netflix launched 'Fast Laughs' on its mobile app last year. The mobile version of the feature, unlike the TV version, appears as a vertical, TikTok-style stream that you can scroll through seamlessly. On the right side of each clip, there are options to share it, add the show to your List, and react with a "LOL" button. Netflix may launch 'Fast Laughs' on TV app Netflix's 'Fast Laugh' feature is gradually becoming available to users in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, Australia, Ireland, and "other selected English-speaking nations," according to the site. The feature is only available to adult profiles, and you'll have to get through a content warning to watch the broadcast. It's also unclear how many individuals are taking part in the 'Fast Laughs' TV test and when or if it will be rolled out to all users.
