No HC relief for ex-Punjab minister Sangat Singh Gilzian; told to file anticipatory bail plea

Mohali, June 29: Former Congress minister Sangat Singh Gilzian on Wednesday failed to get any relief from the Punjab and Haryana High Court. Former Punjab minister Sangat Singh Gilzian had filed a petition in the Punjab and Haryana High Court seeking the quashing of an FIR against him. However, stating that this is not an urgent petition and can be heard regularly, Gilzian was asked to file an anticipatory bail first. The matter will now come up for hearing on July 4. Former minister Sangat Singh Gilzian, who was the Forest Minister in the Charanjit Singh Channi-led government, has also been named in the FIR. When his application for the quashing of the FIR came up for hearing on Wednesday, the HC said if he found finds the matter urgent, he could file a petition for an anticipatory bail. The Vigilance Bureau is looking for Gilzian,  who has been accused of committing a fraud in the purchase of tree guards.
